In Their Own Words: Reflections and Testimonies After Healing Classes (Part 3)

Part 3 of a 5-Part Blog Series

From Unforgiveness and Shame to Forgiveness and Freedom

Time and again, we hear from women and men across the country who carry intense shame following an abortion and struggle to forgive themselves—even when they know that God has already forgiven them. Shame can keep people stuck for years, even decades. But through the love and mercy of Jesus Christ, shame can be lifted through the forgiveness He freely offers.

“I went into this group feeling doubtful and full of regret. Now not only am I healed, but I’ve also become my baby’s mother instead of just their perpetrator. I am so grateful there is healing within an Almighty God. What once felt unforgivable is now a weight that has been lifted. Thank you for this program. It was life changing.” — B.T.

“An Even Place was a safe place to be real, honest, and not feel judged. It gave me the push I needed to overcome my shame, but I never felt forced—just encouraged.” — Anonymous

“I learned of and was surprised by hidden burdens and unforgiveness I was harboring, and the need to let go of them. I was surprised at how much my abortions had been affecting my life and how deep the hurt was. It’s beautiful to see women talk about the healing found in a safe and confidential community where they can confess what’s on their heart, accept forgiveness from God, and go on to walk in freedom.” — K.C.

“I have a relationship with Jesus, and I have accepted His forgiveness for my sins—for everything but my abortions. For twenty years, I considered my abortion to be an unforgivable sin.”

This class attendee found the chapter on forgiveness to be life changing. At the end of the Forgiven and Set Free study, she shared:

“What once felt unforgivable is now a weight lifted.” — Anonymous
